WOOSTER — McClintock Electric has demonstrated its service to the community in more than one way over its 50-year history.
“We are a community-minded organization,” said CEO/owner Michael McClintock, who sees giving back as a privilege of doing business here.
“There should be an obligation to give back in some way, shape or form,” he said.
The company has found a wide variety of options for donating its services, from placing electricians on the job at Habitat for Humanity projects to putting together golf teams for agency and organizational fundraisers.
They’ve even fielded teams for Woosterfest’s beer stein races.
McClintock and several of his employees have participated in Leadership Wooster, “a great program,” he said.
“I went through it last year, and it’s a great opportunity to find out more about government and social services in the community,” McClintock said.
“The more (our employees) know about our community, the more well-rounded they will be as business persons and as (people) who know how it operates.”
One of the company’s greatest joys has been a local and overseas collaboration in Honduras.
“We’re heavily involved in CAMO (Central American Medical Outreach),” McClintock said.
He and up to seven other employees have made the trip to Santa Rosa every year for nearly 14 years.
“What a great way to show people who are employed with me (that) this is the way most of the world lives,” McClintock pointed out, making a global as well as a local contribution.
During its long history with CAMO, McClintock Electric has lent a hand to many endeavors, including an overhaul of the electrical infrastructure of Santa Rosa’s public hospital, serving, as the only one in the area, about three million people; expansion and rewiring of the hospital’s NICU; and expansion and renovation of the public health building.
In giving back locally and internationally, McClintock acknowledged it is sometimes difficult “to pick and choose” with so many worthwhile causes available; he has to “mix it up” in order to get involved in a variety of service projects.
Other agencies and organizations benefiting from McClintock Electric’s commitment to the community are Christian Children’s Home of Ohio, the Fraternal Order of Police, Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, Quota Club, United Way of Wayne and Holmes Counties, The Salvation Army and Wayne Center for the Arts.
The company’s dedication to its goal of “one company, many solutions” continues to fuel it as it commemorates a half century of doing business.
